Ingredients
potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1/2 cup (125 mL) onion, finely chopped
2 cups (500 mL) Canadian Gruyère, grated
Salt and freshly ground pepper
1 1/4 cups (310 mL) chicken broth
2 tbsp (30 mL) all-purpose flour
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
In a 9˝ (23 cm) square baking dish, layer half the potato slices, half the onion and half the cheese; sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Repeat layers.
In a bowl, gradually stir chicken broth into flour until smooth.
Pour over potatoes and cheese.
Bake in the oven for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender and cheese is golden brown.
Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
