The sauce is made with lentils and served over a bed of rice.
Ingredients
1 cup 250mL Red lentils.
2 cup 500mL Water.
1 cup 250mL Chopped onion
1 Large tomato, diced
2 Garlic cloves, minced
( or 1/2tsp., 2 mL garlic powder)
1/4 tsp 1mL Turmeric
1/2 to 1 tsp 2-5mL Cayenne pepper.
3/4 tsp 4mL Salt.
1 tsp 5mL Ground coriander.
1 to 1/3 cup 325mL Basmati rice.
2 to 2/3 cup 650mL Water.
1/2 tsp 2mL Salt.
Instructions
Measure first 9 ingredients into saucepan. Cover. Cook for about 20 minutes until vegetables are tender. Cook rice in water and second amount of salt for about 15 minutes until tender and moisture is absorbed. Pour lentil mixture over each serving of rice
