Ingredients

2 1/3 cups (575 mL) uncooked whole wheat penne pasta
1 cup (250 mL) chopped red pepper
1 pkg (640 g) Green Giant* Frozen Broccoli in Cheese Sauce
2 cups (500 mL) cubed cooked chicken
1/4 cup (50 mL) milk
1/8 tsp (0.5 mL) cayenne pepper
1/3 cup (75 mL) plain bread crumbs
3 tbsp (45 mL) grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp (2 mL) Italian seasoning
1 tbsp (15 mL) olive oil

Instructions

Heat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spray 9x13-inch (23x33 cm) rectangular baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Cook pasta as directed on package. Add red pepper during the last 3 minutes of pasta cook time. Drain; return to saucepan.
Meanwhile, cook broccoli & cheese sauce as directed on bag. Stir cooked broccoli mixture, chicken, milk and cayenne pepper into pasta. Pour into baking dish.
In small bowl, stir together bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning; stir in oil, using fork. Sprinkle bread crumb mixture over top of pasta mixture.
Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until top is golden brown and pasta is hot.
Notes: Whole Grain Goodness: Eating at least 3 servings of whole grains daily may help reduce blood cholesterol. Look for the word "whole" to be sure you get the whole grain.
